Family: Poaceae Scientific name: Lagurus ovatus Description: Plant Form: Small annual grass. Size: Up to 60 cm tall but often much shorter. Stem: Narrow, wiry flower stem. Leaves: Flat, greyish-green velvety blades up to 20 cm long. Flowers: Densely packed globular or cylindrical or teardrop-shaped head with hairy and bristly spikelets. Very fluffy and resembling a rabbit tail in overall appearance. Fruit and Seeds: 5 mm long with midrib which continues into an awn. Very hairy.
