Family: Malvaceae Scientific name: Triumfetta rhomboidea Description: Plant Form: Shrub or subshrub. Size: Up to 2 m tall. Stem: Reddish-brown. Vary from almost hairless to densely hairy or velvety. Leaves: Broad and oval-shaped to almost rhomboid towards the base, 2-9 cm long, with serrated edges, becoming smaller and narrower higher up. Flowers: Bright yellow, with 5 petals, often in clusters with the fruit. Supporting petal-like sepals have a distinctly hooded appearance. Fruit and Seeds: Hairless, dry, spherical or slightly oblong, 4-5 mm across, covered in 2 mm long spines. Habitat: Urban bushland, cropping areas, waste areas, disturbed areas, riparian areas, pastures. Distinguishing Features: Similar to Five stamen burrbark (Triumfetta pentandra) but can be distinguished by having sepals with a hooded appearance.
