Family: Aizoaceae Scientific name: Tetragonia implexicoma Description: Plant Form: Scrambling or climbing perennial herb or shrub. Size: Up to 3 m wide or more. Stem: Trailing or climbing. Leaves: Diamond shaped, fleshy, 1.5-6 cm long, with a minute pimple-like covering. Flowers: Star-shaped, yellow. Solitary or sometimes paired. Slightly curved inward at edges. Strongly scented. Fruit and Seeds: Succulent orange or red berries which ripen to almost black. Habitat: This native species inhabits coastal waterways, beaches, coastal scrub, dunes, cliffs, rocky areas. Distinguishing Features: Differs from Warrigal greens (Tetragonia tetragonoides) in having yellow star-shaped flowers and succulent mature fruit. Impacts: Note - this is a native species.
